このアルバムが名盤だということに
異を唱える人はいないと思うけど、
なんでここで、スティーリー・ダン ?! だよね。
先日、ジョーイ･アレキサンダーの紹介で、
サックスのクリス・ポッターが登場したけど、
そういえば、現代サックスNo,１のオトコを
まだ、たった一枚しか取り上げていないと思いたった。
そんで、クリス・ポッターの第一弾がこれ。
おそらくオイラが聴いた初めてのクリス・ポッターがこれだから。
もちろん、当時クリス・ポッターのこと知らないで聴いてたワケだけど。
ポッターのアルバム･デビューは89年。
そして自身のリーダーアルバム・デビューが、92年。
95年は、まだ駆け出しと行っていいころだ。
さすが、スティーリー・ダン、その嗅覚もさすが。
ポッターは、ここではアルト・サックスをプレイしてる。
スティーリー・ダンの完璧な世界の一翼をしっかり担ってる。
オマケに、このアルバム、ドラムがデニス・チェンバース、
そして、ピーター・アースキン。
これまた、素晴らしい仕事ぶりに、あらためてため息。
スティーリー・ダンのアルバムは、
わが家のサウンドシステムで、
常にネクストバッターズ・サークルの位置に待機してる。
その中でも、このライブは “ 大谷 ” なみの存在と言ってもいい。
期待を裏切らない、確実な一枚だ。
